Aritram Waldorf school is the best choice of school for early years

“I am a grade 5 parent at Aritram Waldorf school. For me one of the underlying principles of Waldorf education is interconnectedness between subjects and humans at large…

“In Grade 5 the kids are introduced to subjects such as Geography, History and Botany along with the usual subjects including Maths, English and Hindi. The approach is to bring forth a holistic understanding of the subject/concept by bringing the connection among various elements. For example, when teaching the history of a particular time period, kids are introduced to the geography, culture, stories, language, art and food from that era. It is not the emphasis on dates rather the understanding of the sensibilities of the people from the era. For instance, why did Egyptians preserve their dead people, how did they do it, or how did people in early Greek civilization live? What was the geographical layout of the place? When children understand the physical layout, culture and the thought process it becomes easy for them to comprehend the why of any event and thereafter the outcomes of it.

Teachers at the Aritram Waldorf school dedicatedly work to bring the beauty of each subject through drawings, projects, experiments, classroom discussions, and varied experiences. They nurture the innate curiosity of each child and enable them to see the underlying connection between things.”

I would like to share my experience about a school named ARITRAM, that I visited yesterday for my son. It’s a very simple and organic place where I landed by chance in the struggle to find a place for my 3 year old, where he’s not forced into the regular grind of schooling.
We met the teacher with all of us sitting on the floor, and sipping some tea made of Aparajita flower.
They are a Waldorf school, which focuses on developing life skills and emotional well being of the child. I was very scared to leave my child in school crying so he could get used to it. The teacher told me that I can stay with my child in the class till he’s ok being without me, so that weight was completely lifted off. A teacher will visit home to make the kid acquainted with her so that he doesn’t feel that he’s meeting complete strangers the first day.
My child will start the day by playing in the sand, followed by breakfast which will be shared by all the kids as the menu will be the same, the kids will then have a rhythm of the day which 1 life skill that they will practice every day.
This would also include a visit to a nearby park once a week to see the birds, butterflies and plants.
The day would end with a story time and winding down so that the child can go home relaxed.
After listening to all this it felt like a dream come true for me and my son.
Why I’m sharing all this is bcoz I wish there could be more schools like this around us, I wish every child gets to experience this. If I had the opportunity as a child myself to go to school my life would be different.
I really wish the new parents can just once step out of the box ( with all due respect and understanding for every parent in my heart) and pay a visit to this school.
You can only understand what they’re doing when you enter the school and interact with them. Added advantage they hv an amazing day care facility as well.
My son is starting next month.
